Every agonizing second that passed left me more desperate.
I couldn’t dare to blink, lest I miss it
My heartbeat screams in my ears, waiting.
I can feel the anxiety hit me like a current pulling me under
Everything goes numb, there’s nothing left but me and the waiting
Anticipation becomes fear of the unknown
It was a mistake, I shouldn’t have sent it
I gasp. It’s almost over now.
My vision blurs as I try to focus on the glowing screen in my palm
She said yes.
Those shoes would look good with my Hoco dress.
I sigh, and add the shoes to my online shopping cart as I text my best friend a simple “thanks”
This poem encompasses anxiety quite well. It really shows how momentary everything can be. In one minute, we can go from hyper-focusing on a problem to realizing its insignificance. This is thoughtful and engaging. Good job 🙂

Your description of what anxiety feels like is very well-written and thoughtful! It allows me to imagine the scenario the poem is expressing. It’s interesting how you put in the thought of desperation, but you contrast it with the feeling of regret later on. I think the contrasts describes the complex human emotions accurately. Overall, I like your post :)))

Yes flit! Once again a solid piece of poetry. I love the dramatic rendering of a seemingly-inconsequential event. I’m also glad I don’t have to analyze that poem but I enjoyed reading it. The simple and sensory image are superb. Also you’re gonna look great at HoCo no matter what shoes you wear 😉

I love the dramatic reveal of the tense moment actually being about shoes. I can’t wait to see them! 😏
