It is the best of sports,
It is the worst of sports,
It is the suffering of a midday practice,
It is the reward of a perfect race,
It is the flood of adrenaline,
It is the surge of exertion,
It is the achievement of a personal record,
It is the disappointment of a defeat,
It is the anticipation of the start line,
It is the perseverance until the finish line,
There is always so much of the race ahead of us,
There is always so much of the race behind us,
We refuse to be overcome by the struggle,
We resolve to endure by our strength.
It might only be a sport, but it might also be our life.
I loved your post! As your running flit I relate on a personal level. But seriously this is a very creative take on this prompt, I enjoyed the way you didn’t directly transpose diction from the sources, and yet you stayed in the spirit of the juxtaposition Dickens used in the story.

I really relate to the statement ‘suffering of a midday practice.’ If only we could wake up early and run in the morning sometimes without people complaining….*cough* @Will *cough*. Anyway, I like how you broke this up into individual lines: it was much easier to follow than the Dickens original. Nice job 🙂

I love the way that your tone fluctuated between sarcastic and determined. The way that you wrote about the daily ups and downs of cross country is really relatable (even though I’m not a huge runner). Great job!

I really liked your post! Although I do not run cross country, I can relate to some of the elements such as “the acheivement of a personal record” or the “dissapointment of a defeat”. The blog is really well written and I liked how it relates to something that is a big part of your life. Good Job!

I love how you capture the essence of cross country and not just the stereotypical one time you cross the finish line because it is so much more than that. You are constantly running different stages of the race. I love the precise sound-focused word choice in your antithesis such as the “disappointment in defeat” with its harsh alliteration.
